What type of equipment do you use?
I always shoot with the most current Nikon professional-grade camera bodies, lenses and flashes. My current lineup includes the following:
- Nikon D750
- Nikon D700
- Nikon 35mm f/1.8
- Nikon 50mm f/1.8
- Nikon 85mm f/1.8
- Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8
- Nikon 105mm f/2.8 macro
- Nikon SB-800 Speedlight
- Nikon SB-600 Speedlight
My style is both photojournalistic and creative, capturing truthful moments as they happen as well as creating artistically posed portraiture. I am quick to tune into the unique personalities of each of my clients, and am often complimented on my unobtrusive shooting style and warm personality that allows them to relax and feel comfortable in front of the camera. And in regards to photo trends and special effects, my preferred aesthetic is that I don't use actions or filters or any other "Instagram-like" editing techniques. I've been a professional photographer for over ten years and I've seen many trends come and go, but my style has always had the classic look that doesn't rely on post-production tricks. For me, it's all about the magic of the natural world around us, and using light to illuminate the true beauty that I see in all people.
How many photographs will I receive?
The number of photographs you will receive depends on many things, but it typically balances out to about 100 photos per hour of wedding coverage. The final number may vary due to contributing factors which include the size of the wedding party, total number of guests, venue(s), and cultural traditions.
Do we get to keep the digital negatives?
Yes! I provide all of the edited digital files delivered to you on DVD's or full-resolution image download. I retain the copyright to the images and the right to use them for promotional purposes, but I am happy to provide you with a personal use license which will allow you to have your own prints made and make copies for your friends and family. All of the images that you will receive have been edited, corrected and enhanced, which means that we go through and do custom color corrections, exposure adjustment and enhancements on every single photo, unlike some photographers who only give their clients the RAW (unprocessed) files. And the photos that are chosen for the album will receive Advanced Custom Retouching, which includes skin smoothing, blemish removal, teeth whitening, slenderizing and all of the amazing things that are made possible with Photoshop! :)
What is the turn around time for albums?
The average turnaround time for a wedding album is three months, but this also largely depends on you and how quickly you make your selections for the album.
If we hire you, will you be our photographer or will someone else be photographing our wedding?
Yes, I photograph each wedding personally, which is one of the greatest benefits of hiring Stacey Adams Photography as opposed to one of the larger studios, where they typically hire photographers with little to no experience. I work closely with all of my clients, which often means that we end up becoming friends in the process and stay in touch long after the wedding. My client base is almost entirely composed of word-of-mouth referrals, which speaks for itself about the level of satisfaction of my prior clients. I take my job very seriously and give my all to every single wedding I photograph. I want nothing more than to give you the most amazing photos imaginable.
How should we prepare for our engagement shoot?
- Wear something you're comfortable in. A couple of outfit changes are welcomed, and they give variety to the pictures. Don't wear tight fitting clothes that restrict movement.
- Wear something you love, a touch dressier than what you might normally wear makes it fun, just make sure it's still 'you'.
- Wear clothes that are complementary in style and color, and don't be too matchy. Wear clothes that are the same level of dressiness.
- Dark clothes are slimming, bright clothes add fun color. Patterns can sometimes make the photo too busy, since the background will already be adding texture.
- Wear shoes that you can walk comfortably in, because we're going to be walking around quite a bit!
- Props like hats, sunglasses, fabrics can all be fun to play with, as are balloons or anything that's appropriate to where we are doing the photos. If you have roller skates or cool bikes, bring them! The more props we have to play with, the better!
- You could also come up with a theme for the shoot, such as "vintage" or "burning man" ;)
- Treat the photo session like it's a professional photo shoot, because it is! Let's take some sexy, fun photos!
Yes! I love doing destination weddings because it gives me the opportunity to spend more time photographing the couple and their friends over the period of two to three days as opposed to a local wedding which is just one day of coverage. This creates an environment where everyone become much more comfortable in front of the camera, which in turn makes it easier for me to take amazing photos!
I love your work, can I see an entire wedding?
Absolutely! Just email me and I'll be happy to send you the link to a full wedding in a password protected gallery.
What if something happens and you can't make it to my wedding?
First of all, I can honestly say that thankfully this has never happened! But if for some unforeseen reason something were to occur that prevented me from being able to photograph your wedding, I have a network of professional photographers who I work with closely that would be able to cover your event.
What are your payment policies?
I require a $500 non-refundable deposit and signed contract to reserve your wedding date, and the remainder of the balance is due on the day of the wedding or anytime before that. For wedding-related payments, I accept personal checks, cashier's checks, money orders and cash. If you choose to use a credit card or Paypal, there is an additional 1.5% processing fee added to the total package price.
Do you scout our venue before the wedding?
If by chance I have never shot at your venue before, then I typically arrive early so that I can walk around the property and familiarize myself. Light is the most important thing to me, and how it looks on that particular day. After I have determined where the most beautiful light is, I also will consider the interesting aspects that the venue and the surrounding areas have to offer.
Do you offer discounts for off-season or non-Saturday events?
Occasionally discounts are available but it largely depends on the time of year and my availability. If you have specific questions, please contact me directly.
