I recently went to see the sexy ladies of the Harlow Gold burlesque show. The vibe is cabaret-style Berlin of the late 1930’s and the dancers do everything from hanging upside down from the ceiling to crawling across the bar and right up onto your lap! Definitely check them out the last two Thursday’s of every month at Harvelle’s in Santa Monica.

For Tahnee and Jason’s engagement photos, we took a short walk from my studio in downtown Long Beach over to Avia Hotel. I love the rooftop pool area at Avia, and Tahnee and Jason created quite a stir up there while we did the photo session! Afterwards we walked around the downtown area with their cute little dog Hana and ended up at the beach just as the sun was setting. I’m really looking forward to their wedding and I know Tahnee is going to be a gorgeous bride!

I feel as if I’ve known Lara and Dave for a long time, even though we had never met until they inquired about my photography. It was very synchronistic that we both had a Los Angeles and New Mexico connection, so it seemed only fitting to do their engagement photos in LA since the wedding was going to be at the Hacienda Dona Andrea in New Mexico. They’re a fun couple with infectious laughs and a sincere love for each other, and their wedding day was well thought out to ensure that everyone had an amazing time. There were lots of details like the sweet smelling lavender buds that guests threw on the dance floor during the first dance, and the Photobooth was a big hit thanks to the fabulous props provided by Dave’s nieces and nephews. I feel honored to have been a part of such a special day… you can watch the slideshow here.

Lara and Dave are such a fun couple! We had a blast running all over LA for their engagement photo session, which started out at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown LA, progressed to Pinks Hot Dogs in Hollywood, and ended up at LACMA. If the engagement photos were this much fun to shoot, I can’t wait to see what the wedding is going to be like!

When you meet Stephanie and Nick, it is immediately obvious that they have a lot of fun with each other and are very much in love. Their wedding was at the Figueroa Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles on March 26, which also happened to be the day that 10,000 people marched in a protest to support union workers. The rally, known as “Solidarity Saturday” froze traffic in the whole downtown area for several hours, but nothing could detract from the happiness and excitement that Nick and Stephanie felt that day… which really gave a deeper meaning to the term Solidarity Saturday! The Figueroa is a mix of Mexican, Mediterranean and Moroccan styles, with rich earth tone colors, hand-glazed walls and wrought-iron beds. The mosaic-tiled pool is surrounded by tropical greenery with the skyscrapers of downtown LA in the background. The big, airy lobby exudes a romantic vibe with Moroccan chandeliers, columns, tile flooring and medieval-style furnishings. The laid back energy of “The Fig” was the perfect location for having exactly the kind of wedding that Nick and Stephanie wanted: an intimate, relaxed and super fun celebration to share with their closest friends and family. Thanks Nick and Stephanie! xo
