Remember Jeff and Sandy’s amazing Thai Buddhist ceremony? Well this was the equally amazing wedding reception that followed. On Christmas Eve, Jeff and Sandy invited about 200 of their closest friends and family to come celebrate with them at the Hilton Los Angeles in Universal City. We all knew we were in for a fun night when their grand entrance was to the song Welcome To The Jungle by Guns n Roses! Sandy looked gorgeous in her Badgley Mischka dress, and in between dancing and trips to the photo booth, guests dined all night with a 10 course dinner that included scallops, shrimp and lobster. Truly a beautiful couple and a beautiful night!

Last weekend I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to photograph a traditional Thai Buddhist ceremony at the Wat Thai Buddhist Temple in Los Angeles. The ceremony started with Sandy and Jeff bowing before the image of the Buddha and then reciting Buddhist prayers and lighting incense and candles. They also bowed in gratitude at the feet of their parents and offered gifts to each of the monks, and as the monks chanted I could feel the reverberations in my chest. During the water ceremony, Jeff and Sandy kneeled with their hands in prayer position over a bowl filled with flowers. Their parents placed twin loops of string on their heads to connect them, and each of the guests came up, offered words of good luck, and poured blessed water over their hands so that it trickled down onto the flowers. Such an amazing experience… I can hardly wait for the second part of the celebration at the Universal Hilton later this month!

Sarah and Jonathan are a fun (and gorgeous) couple who live in Los Feliz, so when it came to deciding where to do their engagement photos, the choice was easy.  I find that for a lot of my clients, “Where do you want to do your engagement session?” can be a question that is stressful to answer. A little tip- it helps when you keep it close to home. You want to pick a location that means something to you … a place that when you look at your photos in the years to come you’ll be able to reminisce about. So for Sarah and Jonathan, we kept it close to home and started the afternoon out at Griffith Park. We also made a stop at Little Dom’s, one of their favorite neighborhood restaurants, where we got the rare treat of a few moments of rain showers mixed with sunshine and a full rainbow. And true to my theory, the best photos were the last ones of the day that we literally took in their own back yard… although granted, they do have an amazing backyard! Can’t wait for the wedding next July at The London in West Hollywood!

Patrick is a cool guy who likes to surf, ride motorcycles and play ultimate frisbee. Nancy is a beautiful and smart animal lover. They met at law school in Los Angeles and the rest is Lawyers in Love history! We had a great time doing their engagement photos at the Santa Monica Pier and I’m really looking forward to the wedding!

Vanessa and Ari are such a cute couple! We had a great time doing their engagement photos in downtown LA, starting at the Disney Music Hall and ending up at The Standard. With as much fun as we had doing these photos, I can hardly wait for the wedding in December! Stay tuned…
